Do you want to quit, throw in the towel and say enough is enough thank you? Should you close shop instead of throwing more money at a failing enterprise? Every business person at one time or another has been overwhelmed and wonders if it is worth it. Those that succeed answer 'YES' and keep going. So should you quit?
First why do you feel like quitting? What else in your life is overwhelming you? What have you neglected to do to balance out family, marriage, self, and work? If you answered nothing then I would first look to other aspects of your life to fix before choosing to quit your business. If things are not good at home then the stress of that will flow into the stress of business and lets face it, it's easier to quit on business then it is to quit a family.
Are you struggling? Is it not fun anymore and the day to day is dragging you down? Do you have cash flow issues? Then you need to step back and re think your business plan. You need to remember what was fun about it, find the passion to start again and dig in. Sometimes just re doing your business and marketing plans will get those creative juices flowing and help you to focus on what makes you money. Are you bogged down with the administration and book keeping? Either contract this work out to someone or hire someone. This will free up your time to focus on what you are passionate about and that is what will increase your cash flow.
Sometimes just adding a new product or service is enough to add some life into your business. Maybe you need to eliminate products and services to streamline your business and bring you back to focusing on your core business.
When was the last time you took a vacation? Maybe you just need a break, some time away to rejuvinate and refresh your creativity. Worried about who will run the business while your gone? Ask friends and family, explain that you really just need sometime and if they could watch things for a while that would be helpful. Do you have employees you can trust? or maybe a contractor that wouldn't mind taking on a little more while your gone. There is always a way, you just have to stop making excuses and thinking that your God's gift to the business world and everything will stop if you leave.
Whatever the reason is for wanting to quit, you need to make a choice -- quit or stick it out. This is what a business coach is for, to help you make the right choice to ask questions and lead you to the best decision for you and your business. If your first response is that you can't afford it, well the answer is you can't afford not to talk to a business expert. Check with local government agencies and economic development organizations. They have some free services to help the small business person. Good luck and hang in there, success may just be around the corner.
