Hello,
My name is Leah, and I live in eastern Canada. I am a mother of two and have worked as a childcare professional. I write this blog with great concern for the young participants of this show.
Many of these individuals are infants, and while some are near a year old many of them, just a little over 6 months old, have just established a sense of object permanence(the cognitive ability to understand that when someone or something is out of their view that is not gone). There are studies that show that while the mother/baby bond can and in most cases does occur early on, the baby requries ongoing and consistant bonding(attachment parenting) with both parents on a regular basis well into their toddler years.
There babies may be crying for their mother and father. A baby knows the sent of her parents, and recognizes their voices too! The first language a baby knows is the language of his/her parent...and it is mostly non verbal communication.
While this may be a good concept and a worthy cause, it makes no sense to the baby.
I have seen this show, Baby Borrowers for the first time tonight, and appreciate the opportunity to voice my opinion.
Thank you from a very concerned viewer
