Ok, Yes Micheal night was omeone else before becoming Micheal Knight. If I remember correctly he was a cop gunned down while under cover. The foundation found him, gave him a new face and a new life as the knight rider. The grey Haired old guy is indeed (character wise) The same one. The actors are different though. I would assume that Kitt was decommissioned because in the 2 hour pilot, the foundation had been shut down. Or so it was explained. In the pilot, he foundation was reinstated and KNight's son was given the role of the new Knight rider. Micheal(hoff) was brought back to simply convince his son that he should take the position offered to him by the newly reformed foundation, by ststeing that one man can make a difference. I would imagine that they will bring him back from time to time, and hopefully the old kitt as well. That would be an episode worth seeing. @ KITTs. TIght. I can't wait. Does this help at all?
