Thanks NBC. This was the best show I have seen in a long time. I was impressed by all the hard work the choirs did and as far as I am concerned there were 5 winning teams.
I hope that sometime in the near future NBC will post the videos so we can watch them again.

Well Gat,
Your ignorance is known by all now. In case someone forgot the tell you, the rate of death among African American women is five times the rate of deaths for the nearest subgroup, Hispanics. The rate of death is more than 7 to 1 between African Americans and Whites. Thus, your proposal, to make sure everyone get a bite of the apple maintains the status quo. So it begs the question, why do you think it is okay for African American women to die of cancer at such a disproportionate rate? Do you even care? Or, could it be, that you are completely unfamiliar with the fact that more women, particularly women of color, are uninsured. In case you had not heard, cancer screening tests are not cheap like flu shots. More clinics will not even schedule an appointment for a test unless they have verified your proof of insurance coverage. Thus, I conclude by surmising that you may not be racist, but you sure as hell come across as not giving a damn about the disproportionate rate of deaths among women of color. Could I conclude that you are not a woman of color and you live in an area where clinics provide free cancer screenings and women are insured? Could it be possibly that the only thing you heard was that Patty LaBelle was actually trying to help the poor and omitting the insured, white middle class? Shame on you for your dearth of information. Shame on the voters who only wanted to insure that no woman of color gets a leg up to compete for her life. You must have voted repeatedly!!!

Imagine if;
The other 4 contestants, had eliminated, blocked or excluded Africian Americans from their charities.
IF Nick Lachey said that :ONLY white children of Cincinnatti would benefit from the $250,000 donation.
Or Blake Shelton's $50,000 would exclude all African Americans in Oklahoma City.
The uproar would be deafening. The reverands would be out marching, screaming and protesting until their coffiers were full, somebody got fired and they were back on Television talking to Tim Russert or Katie Couric!
Patti LaBelle selected an inner city health agency that ONLY SERVICES Black women. Ms. LaBelle had a responsibilty to insure that all Philadelphian women, REGARDLESS of race could have benefited.
Yes, I know the arguement that her 3 sisters surcumbed to the terrible disease that through early detection, may have saved their lives, BUT many families could say the same. Cancer knows NO COLOR and I wish Ms. LaBelle could make the same claim.
Some would point out that her targeted and exclusive group of inner city BLACK women, who depend on inner city clinics and hospitals often have FREE health options, IF they would only take advantage of them.
Look, I know some will read my words and try to peg this posting as racist. After all it's the quickist way to shut up a rational debate. Instead, try to be fair in your thoughts and judge the acts and not the messenger.

I watched this show each night in its entirety. There was no doubt in the minds of the directors and live audiences that Team LaBelle was far superior to the other teams.
One of the biggest reason many people do not follow American Idol is the voting from the public. Public voting is a popularity contest and allows for manipulation. To allow ten votes from the same residence or email address is unreasonable. Most homes, today, do not have ten residents. Thus, the effect is to allow the same few people to vote as many as thirty times (ten times on the cell phone, ten times on the home phone, and ten times online). Moreover, as was evident in the early editions of American Idol, those same voters essentially voted against the strongest team to eliminate the competition for the weaker team.
The singers who performed for Team Lashay, in my humble opinion, consistently failed to hold simple notes. Their voices crumbled, they were unable to move from one octave to another, and there were more than a few times when it seemed they were screaming without a care for the concept of singing a particular note. While they were diverse, each of the lead singers failed to hold notes at crucial points in each performance. In other words, they choked. Not one single lead had a clear voice, each lead sounded like he or she had been smokers and had scratchy sounds. Sounded like they were singing the blues in a smoky bar in Kentucky.
Team Shelton was the second best team, consistently. Their arrangements were diverse, the choreography was very good, and the lead singers could clearly be understood. But because their director is a country music star, the urban voters did not relate to him.
While I watched this segment, I am confident I will not watch future editions because the most talented team could not win. That being the case, why follow the farce?
