Classical Comedy!
My Name is Earl is classical humor, in the tradition of The Andy Griffith Show".
One of the primary characteristics of future "classics" is to make the humor "timeless". A show that does not rely on "trendy" events, isntead this show relies upon relationships between the characters and the rest of the world.
The primary relationship could be defined between Earl and his brother, teaching the naiive Randy about how to make his relationships stronger and mentoring Randy in how to deal with the rest of the world.
Interestingly, the main character also focuses on the character building involved in repairing the relationships ruined through immature and selfish acts.
Peripherally, the supporting characters are also shown in a positive light when they recognize themselves in the mirror that Earl's altruism reflects.
This show is a modern classic destined for status on par with "The Andy Griffith Show" and "I Love Lucy".
